E-government for regional development*
*The ideas, thoughts, and opinions expressed are not necessarily of the OAS nor of its member states. The opinions expressed are the responsibility of the authors.
1. Can e-government plans be converted into government policies? If so, how?
I
accept that we could take advantage if we obtain from the e-government
plans some lines to design best politics, but it is not all sufficient
to solve the problem. Maybe there is a lack of e-governments plans to
some demands or maybe some of these plans are of short life with an
specific objective. Government policies in my opinion are work lines
with another levels of trascendency and impact but need to be
constantly revised and compared with the achievements or failures of
the plans in its practical application to maintain, or to redrawn or
even restate them to improve constantly our politics.
2. What areas of public service should give priority to applying ICTs?
Public
health, public education, public information about national and foreign
markets, national identification services and more.
3. Given the importance of e-government initiatives to the development of a country, can citizens be asked to pay extra for online services?
I
think that it is preferable not to pay additional cost for these
services.
